Help us fill their glass

A heartfelt thank you to Matt Politano of Oculus Design who came to our rescue! Matt donated his time and considerable design skills to produce a fantastic postcard for our donors. We moved well beyond my novice searches for "fundraising thermometers"...

A fundraising thermometer... ?

I'm looking for a good goal setting "fundraising thermometer". Ideas anyone? In search of a bit more flexibility than this one provides - but it does the trick:

Update Fundraising Thermometer Here

Things are shaping up well for the third and final phase of the project. Still a ways to go in fundraising - explaining my search for a thermometer - but we're quite proud of the work done to date!

Thanks! A wonderful story arrived by post

Songwriters Showcase

In the Correlieu Secondary School of Quesnel, B.C. there was a recorded concert with local songwriters on January 14th 2009. We made enough money to buy 200 CDs of the concert and sold many of them to gain the money back. We raised 500 dollars which we hope will help your project. The African theme of the CD cover is inspired from your project, and was painted by an artist here who had traveled to Africa.

The CD (enclosed) is for Wade Lifton,

You inspired me to dream big and so I created a songwriter’s showcase, and in return, I am giving the money to your project as a thank you and an encouragement to strive until the very end. Out of all the experiences at Naramata, my favorite part was the water project, and how you helped the people in Ghana who were very gracious to you. I’m glad that I’ve contributed to something that impacts so many people. I hope you enjoy the CD.

Thank you,
Lynne Penhale

March 22nd is World Water Day

Tomorrow's World Water Day! Check out the United Nations water site for info on world water day, the decade for action, and all sorts of interesting stuff at www.unwater.org

World Water Day is a reminder to all of us of the Gift of Water. There's plenty you can be doing - and we've picked up a few tips for home - from the 100 ways to conserve at www.wateruseitwisely.com. Excellent.

Of course, we'd be thrilled if you use World Water Day as a reason to help out in the work of theWATERproject.ca. You can donate online! (Please visit our website for step-by-step instructions.)

A long overdue update

Neither Wade nor I are prolific bloggers. But this you may have picked up on your own. So here it is - a much over due post. We've recently put our efforts into creating the fall 2008 newsletter which we sent out several weeks ago and is now also posted to the website for download. Please have a look if you haven't had a chance already.

Phase 2 of the Project is rolling – three of five rainwater harvesting tanks are complete, with two more under construction. This will provide a total of 545,000L of water-storage capacity between the two villages of Adexor and Adexor-Kpodzi. That’s 1650L of clean water for each person throughout the 6 month dry season.

We've also been putting our efforts to fundraising for phases 2 & 3 of the Project. Wade received this wonderful email the other day from friend Sara who turned her 7th birthday party (!) into a fundraiser for theWATERproject.ca:

"Hello Wade,
It's Sara here. I raised $100.00 for theWATERproject.ca today through donations collected at my birthday party. Mom has prepared the envelope and will give it to you later this week."

Thank you Sara!
